Character's Name: Scott Christopher Summers
Codename: Lobo
Age: 35 (April 18th, 1972)

Powers: Scott's main ability allows him to transform into a grey wolf. It's pretty much what one might describe as lycanthropy, but without the magical components and it's not triggered or controlled in any way by the full moon. Scott also has the ability to transform into a half man, half wolf state which provides with a heightened sense of smell and hearing. His gray wolf form also comes with all of the strength and heightened senses that a normal wolf would have. Scott cannot communicate with humans while in that form through normal speech, though telepathy or any animal empathic powers will work. As he matured, Scott found that his senses of hearing and smell had improved in his human for as well.

Due to accident caused brain trauma as a child he has more trouble than he should in controlling certain aspects of his powers. His instincts in wolf form are extremely overpowering and it takes an extreme amount of concentration on his part to control them (he's become an extremely good multi-tasker because of this). The transformations between forms are also painful—bones shifting, fur growing, skin stretching, it's to be expected. The pain is bearable, but that doesn't make it enjoyable.

Biography/History: Christopher and Catherine Summers intended to raise both of their sons, Scott and Alexander, at an air force base in Anchorage, Alaska where Christopher had been stationed to teach rookie pilots. Piloting was in Scott's blood nearly from the moment he was born in the medical lab on the base. He spent the first eight years of his life surrounded by pilots, planes, and the army and had he remained there his life likely would have taken that path.

When Scott was five and Alex, his younger brother, was three the family began flying from Anchorage to Juneau once a month to see Catherine's parents who lived just south of the city. Christopher would often let Scott sit with him at the controls, pretending he was copilot of the family's small de Havilland Mosquito. Though he wasn't nearly old enough to fly he soon knew the workings of all the controls in the cockpit and did a scarily accurate impersonation of a true copilot while sitting in the seat. Catherine didn't completely approve, wishing that their eldest was strapped into one of the back seats with his younger brother. Alex would often squirm from his seat and toddle up to the front of the page to see what Scott and Christopher were doing; it understandably worried Catherine, but in the end it would save both Scott and Alex's lives.

Two years later the trips had become completely routine. There had never been any problems as Christopher was more than a competent pilot and he was obsessive about keeping the plane in good condition. It was the weekend of Scott's birthday in 1979 when the Summer's family was flying down to Juneau as had become the norm. The turbulence they hit about thirty minutes after take off was at first passed off by Christopher as nothing, but it escalated faster than he would have ever predicted and it wasn't long before the plane's right wing was inexplicably hanging by a metaphorical thread and it was plummeting towards the ground in a tailspin. Had the boys been in the back of the plane in their seats Catherine wouldn't have had the time to save them as she did.

There was only one parachute on the plane, an oversight on Christopher's part though at this point even having four would not have helped. Catherine did the only thing she could, strapping it to both Scott and Alex and pushing them out of the plane in order to save their lives. No one would ever find the downed plane, much less the reason why it went down in the first place, but Alex and Scott survived to quickly become separated themselves. The fall was not a short one and Scott landed first, protecting his brother from a completely hard landing. He landed, hitting the base of his skull which caused damage to his brain which would be irreparable even later in his life. He passed out on impact and between the emotional trauma of the event and the damage done, Scott's powers were activated much earlier than they might have normally.

When Scott came to he wasn't himself. His brother was still unconscious, though Scott didn't notice the fact at all. His body, realizing that he needed to survive, let lose his powers transforming the boy into a small grey wolf. It was the only way Scott would have survived the Alaskan wilderness alone. With the transformation complete, Scott ran away from his brother without knowing better at all. The plane had been just beyond the land that would soon be named Glacier Bay National Park when the crash occurred and unbeknownst to him, that was where Scott headed. He reached the park several hours later and remained there in his grey wolf form for an unknown amount of time as he traveled through the park's five thousand square miles south towards Juneau.

Asking Scott now about his time spent in the park is nearly useless. He doesn't remember anything about it besides brief flashes. Between the physical damage and the mental trauma of it all, it's all that can really be expected. Eventually Scott did transform back, after reaching just outside the park's boundaries, but the unexpected pain of the transformation and the strain on his body caused him to pass out again. He was found by a pair of geologists camped out in the park to do glacial research. Both were genuinely surprised to find the little boy laying abandoned and naked in the woods. Scott was badly bruised, cut up, and the geologists noted several bite marks marring his skin. They rescued Scott and took him back to Juneau with them, wondering exactly what had happened.

Scott didn't remember anything about his time in the woods and though he babbled on incessantly about a plane crash a combination of police, rangers, and other emergency services could find no evidence of any sort of crash or accident in the large expanse of the park. Scott his name, that the crash had happened, and that he'd fallen from the plane with his brother, but he couldn't remember how he'd gotten from the crash to the woods and then to the hospital. His parents and brother were declared missing when it was found that, indeed, they were at least missing as was the family's plane. The relatives they'd been flying to see when the plane crashed was easily located by the Juneau authorities, but they couldn't afford to take Scott permanently. Scott was placed in the system soon after his aunt and uncle denied the opportunity to take him in.

His powers had not resurfaced since his time in the woods and Scott was unaware that he possessed them. Had anyone mentioned turning into a wolf to the eight year old boy he likely would have thought they were crazy. His memory of the crash did not return in full, but he continued to have flashes of it and soon images of his time in the woods began surfacing in his dreams leaving him with sleepless nights he didn't entirely understand. None of it made a lick of sense until the morning he woke up covered in fur. Scott didn't last very long in that particular foster home. He was 'returned' to social services immediately, though the agency had little idea what to do with a mutant boy covered in fur. Scott didn't know how to control the mutation at all.

He was nine when he was finally placed in an orphanage because foster families refused to accept mutants. The word mutant still meant very little to him besides simply being different than all of the other children in the orphanage. It meant that sometimes he woke up with fur, claws, and an odd looking face. He couldn't control how or why this happened, but he did not take the form of a full grey wolf again until the day which would be his last inside the orphanage.

Because his powers had been released at such an early age they'd not had time to fully develop. Along with the transformations themselves, Scott lacked the ability to control the animal instinct that came with the transformations. It was part of the reason he couldn't completely remember his time in the woods from before, he'd lost most of his human self while it had been happening. When it happened again he was nine and living in the orphanage. It had been a night of the odd dreams and flashes of memory when Scott woke up finding himself covered in fur as usual, but the transformation continued and for a few moments he was crippled in pain on the ground as his entire body shifted and transformed completely into a grey wolf.

Scott was lost to the world at this point and knew nothing of what he was doing as he ran through the orphanage. It wasn't a violent rampage, but the adults who ran the orphanage were understandably worried and the police and animal control were called in to corner and subdue the wolf. The tranquilized wolf was removed from the home and taken to the kennel animal control operated from. He woke there; completely human and confused about what had happened. Even more confusing to him was the fact that he was told that he'd been adopted.

Professor Charles Xavier and his friend Erik Lensherr had heard tell of the Juneau 'wolfboy' and they'd taken it upon themselves to fly out to the city and see if the stories about the boy bore any truths. They arrived two days before Scott's full transformation to take care of the paperwork and it was two days later that they found themselves in a small kennel, watching a wolf transform into a boy and the boy very slowly come to. It would take a good deal of time for Scott to understand exactly what was going on and by the time he did he was on a plane towards Westchester, New York. Charles and Erik did their best to explain what was going on to Scott, but he didn't completely understand until he saw demonstrations of both older men's powers.

Scott arrived at Xavier's School for the Gifted which would be his home from that point on. Charles and Erik first explained mutations to Scott and then offered him the opportunity to stay at the school and learn how to control his powers. Not having anything better to go back to in Alaska, Scott agreed to stay at the school. Being only ten, Charles thought that more immediate attention should have been focused on his schooling while Erik seemed to be more concerned with the development of his powers. Equal time ended up being spent with both, though training with his powers proved to only be able to go so far due to his age. It wasn't until he was thirteen that he gained slightly more control and the ability to shift at will from human to wolf. He would always have trouble controlling the instincts that came with the transformations and sometimes controlling the transformations themselves. They were highly tied to his emotional state, and Scott would occasionally find himself breaking out in fur at moments of heightened emotion.

Erik worked with him to help him try and eventually some of it took, but his powers simply didn't work correctly due to the brain damage he'd suffered from the crash. Doctor Moira McTaggert, a friend of Charles', was able to confirm that this was the case but they were not able to correct it. Scott had to learn to deal with his lack of control and that transferred into his everyday life.

Scott grew up at Xavier's school. As the eldest student at the school he was much looked up to by those who came after him. He proved highly intelligent and was able to attend college at the proper time. He came back to the school (though he'd never really left) after graduating and became a math teacher for the younger students. Eventually he was also appointed one of the co-leaders of the X-Men and when the school was forced to move premises in the summer of 2006 his co-leadership position became his fulltime job. While he'd thought of moving with the school, in the end his life and relationships at the mansion was too important.

Currently Scott remains at Xavier's as the X-Men leader. He trains with the team, leads missions, and also helps scout students at the Salem Academy in Boston who would be good potential additions to the team. He is engaged to be married to Jean Grey, a fellow team member.

Personality: When he was a teacher, Scott was often called anal retentive by his students. He is, but he prefers the description 'controlled'. Control plays a big part in his life, as he is constantly mindful of how his powers are reacting in terms of his moods. If he's flustered, upset, or even surprised, he's likely to grow fur and a tail and start on his way towards a half-human and half-wolf form. His instinct in full transformation would be harder to control if he didn't practice it in everyday life as well.

He's always liked Xavier's because of the familial feel of the place. He can be private and controlled, but this doesn't mean he likes being alone. The 'lone wolf' is rarer in nature than one might think and it doesn't apply to Scott in any sense. He likes his family at the manor. He's very attached to his teammates and he's loyal to them to a fault, even those who he doesn't particularly like he's still loyal to. When he needs time alone he'll simply go for a run, but he always comes back to the bustle at the mansion.

Scott is incredibly old fashioned in the way he acts. He holds doors and pulls out chairs and can be, in other ways, rather gallant. He's also always polite and respectful. A good deal of this comes from his early upbringing around the military. The code of behaviour has stuck with him, even though the accident occurred when he was young.

Strengths: Strategic attack, piloting (he knows his way around the SR-71 extremely well), heightened sense of smell and hearing, well honed reflexes (which come in handy for piloting), intense loyalty, and approachability.

Weaknesses: Incredibly uptight and tightly wound, not amazing in proper hand to hand combat at all, doesn't always have full control over his powers meaning that though he's extremely gifted strategically, he needs a partner to make sure that the plans he comes up with are well executed.

Appearance: Scott is a good looking man with a charming smile which he doesn't often show to the world. He has brown hair that would flop over his eyes if he wasn't such a neat freak. He has bright blue eyes that sit above high cheekbones making for a rather handsome face. He's very well built from training with the team. Usually he's seen in khakis and a polo shirt or the black leather X-Men uniform. His oil stained repairman's jumpsuit is his other favoured piece of clothing, though he dons it only when he's been working down in the garage.

When transformed, Scott is a gray wolf measuring forty inches in length and weighing about one hundred and fifty pounds. In other words, he's really nothing to mess with and if he latches onto your arm with his teeth, you're likely not going to get it back. In the instances when he does not complete transform (usually during emotional outburst) his features will vary. More than likely he will grow a tail and perhaps grow extra hair on his arms and legs. He's a more hairy than your average male, having to shave more than once a day at times and it's not unusual for his hair to grow longer faster.
